Every family carries a living archive: names, places, moments and choices that shaped who we are today. The Barakat family of Yahchouch was built by generations who worked the land, raised large families and kept their faith and their village at the heart of everything.
Over the years family members left for Beirut, Jounieh and the four corners of the world: Australia, the Americas, Africa and the Gulf. Yet every summer the houses open again, the tables grow longer and the children discover the village of their grandparents.
Why this website
We created this space to gather the stories, photos and names of our family before they are forgotten, and to pass them on to the next generations. Every family member is welcome to send us old photos, dates and memories through the contact page.
