Between the coast and the mountain

Yahchouch belongs to the Keserwan district of Mount Lebanon. From its hills the view opens on the valleys that run down to the bay of Jounieh, and on clear winter days on the snowy peaks above. The mild summers and the rainy winters make it a green village, rich in springs, orchards and woods.

A village of faith and of families

Like many villages of Keserwan, Yahchouch grew around its churches. Their feasts, processions and bells still mark the year. The old families of the village, among them the Barakat family, built the stone houses, the terraces and the paths that visitors still walk today.

Traditions that stay alive

  • The village feast in summer, with music, dabke and a shared meal on the square.
  • The olive and grape harvest in autumn, when families work the land together.
  • Christmas and Easter celebrations in the churches, with the youth and the scouts.
  • The return of the emigrants every summer, who keep the village in their hearts.

Yahchouch today

Today the village combines its old character with new life: families renovate the old houses, young people organise cultural and sports activities, and the NGO of the family supports education, health and the environment. (Sample text - complete it in the CMS with the real history of the village.)
